Congregation-based Learning
Believing that leadership is “more caught than taught,” PLI conducts its collegial events on the campuses of selected LCMS congregations. Much can be learned through observing the facilities and interfacing with staffs of congregations that conduct a facet of ministry excellently. PLI includes more than 30 “mentoring churches” with one or more signature ministries. These congregations and their pastors serve as models and instruction points. Pastors of these congregations also agree to serve as mentors to PLI participants.
Several congregations — with multiple signature ministries — serve as sites for the annual conferences. During their four years in PLI, pastors and their wives attend annual conferences dealing with one of these major topics:
• Visionary Leadership For Mission
• Nurture Positive Change For Mission
• Missional Teaming
• Alignment For The Mission
Testimony from Rev. Terry Beltz
Trinity Lutheran Church & School, Franktown, Colo.
“What a great encouragement it is to me to visit mentor churches throughout the U.S. and hear and learn from veteran pastors the victories and failures….
What joy it is to encounter humble servants of Christ who seek in all ways to share their wisdom and experiences so that pastors like myself can apply what they have already learned.”
